Life Zested

photo prompt for Magpie 55

Systematic pots of the working man,
Owed lime built up from aging deposits,
Coffee clutch remnants of promises ran,
Words, scarred by tines of time, he exposits.

Hope sliced, placed to top off wounded accounts,
Holes bored into thin skins, doctored not cured,
Coverages bruised, marred numbers she counts,
Scattered pulp, brined medications insured.

Disabled hearts, hold benefits bled dry,
Squeezed tartly, fleshy insight composites,
Juiced, salted aides cubed and swirled, left to try,
Cleansing pots, legislative reposits.

Life zested, social insecurities,
Distraught wedge serves future obscurities.

Just for Me and You

Tweety speaks with his own world words,
Mickey sung by letters of his name,
Colored moments filling childhood thirds,
Beaming down, talking cats, its the same.

A snowman dances through Frosty days,
A beagle sleeps atop the roof,
Snoopy about the world, leading ways,
A dwarf lending his Grumpy ways aloof.

Tinkering her way, she flies in dreams,
The Pan Man, her superhero too,
All casted in our nights, yes it seems,
Dream world characters for me and you.

Over at Jingle Poetry it's time for Poetry Potluck and this weeks topic is Cartoons, Sci Fi and Super Powers.  This was a bit of a stretch for me as I was never really into cartoons, even as a child.  But I thought it would be a challenge and thought I would give it a try.

The Black Royal

The hidden 'trash', the worn out trinkets,
Resting, waiting for us to find them...
Worn out toys, prizes cherished, days forth,
Just beyond the dumpsters, fenced apart.

Bushes keeping them apart from,
The vast space of the yard, darkened,
Lying in the dust of the earth,
Waiting for eager eyes to find them.

These were the relics of our youth,
Left, 'trash' separated for us,
The curtain pulled slightly, eyes watch,
As we discover things special.

Things gifted to youth, ours alone,
Until that darkened day of light,
The ultimate find, Black Royal,
Hidden freedom of stories.

Resting, waiting, the Black Royal,
Hidden between fence and bush,
Holding secrets that only we,
Could key down on it's pages then.

The curtain pulled slightly, eyes watch,
The broadened smile across her face,
She nods from the window, knowing,
As we discover things special.

Tea Time, Tea Time

Illustration by:  Jessie Wilcox Smith, 1914
Oh, it's tea time, tea time,
So please, please, write me a rhyme.
Cuz it's tea time, tea time,
For a nickel and a dime.

Oh, it's tea time, tea time,
My monkey is just my mime,
Cuz it's tea time, tea time,
Down from the trees he will climb.

Oh, it's tea time, tea time,
Be it lemon or be lime,
Cuz it's tea time, tea time,
Gardens of clover and thyme.

Oh, it's tea time, tea time,
So, please, please, write me a rhyme.

Thawing Frozen Time

This photo really inspired me, resonating life, pieced together to form a wonderful pictorial experience that evolves through the seasons of time.  Normally, I try to write my post prior to reading through others, however, this week I decided to glance through a handful...  I basically came across what I had in mind to write, stated much more eloquently than I could muster.  Thus I have tried to rework my ideas to a different form.  This is what I came up with as a second take.

for Magpie #54
 Desolate mornings
Rebirthing await their time
Grey days loom forward
Lives evolve in changing days
Beginning transformations

Stagnant moments lie
Beneath blue white canopies
Thawing frozen time
Memories reflecting you
Within melted foreign lands

Dream worlds of days past
Long ago seeds sparked this life
Etched in this crevasse
Mourning light nurtures tender
Seeds hibernating beneath

This attempt at Tanka, was inspired by this wonderful photo offered by Olive over at Creative Writing Ink.

Scarlet Skies

Tanka, a poetry form I have never attempted, but as I am eager to learn new forms... One Stop Poetry  is offering small lessons on Mondays of various forms and a chance to be given feedback.  Here is my attempt.

scarlet skies linger
gazing on green majesties
reaching to touch her
effervescant eyes bequeath
beauty within star filled nights

twinkling lighted skies
darkness illuminated
resting within her
open arms welcome morning
scarlet skies lingering still

Foretell - Writer's Island and Sunday Sketches

The following sketch is in progress, but I wanted to post it as a beginning sketch for Sunday Sketches hosted by Sophia over at Blue Chair Diary

in progress by Petrina Lesko 2011

Oh, but what stories this old bridge could foretell of the small town waiting beyond.  Another road not yet taken, but surely a decidedly exciting world awaits on  the other side.  Such character beheld within the walls of its structure, eluding to the characters of this old town beyond its wooden frame... welcoming anyone who wishes to pass this way.

And with these words, my post shall fit right in over at Writer's Island and this weeks Prompt #8 for 2011: Foretell.  Hope everyone enjoys my submission.

Opportunity Knocks - Microfiction Monday

Thought I would give a try at Microfiction Monday.  It is a wonderful meme prompt where you must respond to the picture offered in only 140 characters or less.  Microfiction Monday is hosted by Susan over at Stony River.  Hope you all enjoy my take and if you'd like to read others, pop on over to Susan's place, I'm sure she would love to see you there.

Microfiction Monday #71
offered as a prompt by Susan of Stony River

Looking down the long hallway, she pondered, 'So if when one door closes,
another opens… Which opportunity shall I choose today?'

Salted Time

photo prompt for Mag 53
Time, like the salt of the earth,
memories together, a bounty
held in cellars of the heart.
A dash added, subtly
creating delicacies
shared with
sentiment.

The spice of life, brining
years of experience.
Flavoring the soul,
savored days
blended by
moments
of time.

Salted time.

Ever Love Held

sketch by Petrina Lesko (Feb 2011)

None so sweet, none so tasty,
This the bestest. better kind,
First loves, a love so hasty,
Ever love held, the child's kind.

Dreams of cakes and candy too,
Huggable bears, hearts in mind,
Puppies day dream, I wuv you,
Ever love held, the child's kind.

Found over at Monday's Child

Birds sing of morning songs here,
Carry forth ribbons to wind,
Cute little bows, saying we're,
Ever love held, the child's kind.

This the bestest, better kind,
Ever love held, the child's kind.

From Behind the Chair

From behind the chair,
Moments overheard, unheard,

photo prompt #52 for Magpie Tales
Days become the night.

Tall, grey, winged-back chair,
Nestled, wooden walls embrace,
Snuggled beyond life.

Chaos surrounds her,
Lives becoming lies untold,
Silently speaking.

Worlds falling apart,
Dreams entangled in their pain,
Lawyer's silent words.

Choices moments brought,
To redo or take erred paths,
Futures rewritten.

From behind the chair,
Moments overheard, unheard,
Her life crumbles still.

I wasn't sure what it was about this picture that it struck a sort-of writer's block when I saw it.  Thus I actually have pondered over, thru, beyond, understanding something had been stirred, when I checked out what this, the prompt for this weeks Magpie Tales was.  It has taken a couple of days, but here is my offering this week.  Kind of dark, but hope you all enjoyed it.

Night's Rain - Updated

as shared @ One Shoot Sunday
Night's Rain

I welcome you in from the night's rain,
Unto my floors do come, where lies grain,
Stacked about, turned out layered by stain,
Please, I welcome you in from the night's rain.

Built on staddle stones, shaped like mushrooms,
Heating naturally, this be thy rooms,
Forming moisture, your grain will be doom,
Forth right here within, I will it entomb.

But listen to my music, dance all,
Lineage comes from under the wall,
Shadows dancing, did you hear 'em call,
Lineage comes, on the floor must crawl.

I welcome you in from the night's rain,
Unto my floors do come, where lies grain,
Stacked about, turned out, covered thy stain,
Please, I welcome you in from the night's rain.

Magical Moments

Home and the Fairies
by Michael Zancan @  DeviantArt
Sitting... staring at the page taped to the wall in front of me... sitting, mesmerized by the sunlight pouring pixie dust down from the sky, dusting me and my image... magically converting my world.

Always, waiting quietly for the inspirations... allowing the plants to tangle around my directions, guiding my brush, it's hairs, transforming the silhouettes into magical wonders before my eyes.

Here in this quiet place, deep within my room, deep within my soul, an outpouring of inspiration, the page before me becoming a quilt of days, nights, moments frozen in time of days so long ago, days when fairies and pixie dust existed... as real to my days as the sun beating down, highlighting the colors of a single rose.  As real to my days as the darkness is to the night.  As real as the terrors are when the days become dark.

Yet here in these quiet moments, a world transforms, fairies dance through the air taking height, swirling around, sparkling, floating upward to the heavens, to peaceful masterpieces left as their legacies.

You Asked of Me

Today, in the still quiet moments,
Shared in hopes of easing the pain,
You asked of me... I knew not if...
Could I give you this, this glimmer,
Of hope, of a pain free moment.

Today, in the still quiet moments,
Shared in pain of not want for loss,
You asked of me... I knew not if,
Could I give you this, this glimmer,
No pain, of a hope filled moment.

Today, in the still quiet moments,
Shared in darkness, challenged my soul,
You asked of me... I knew not if...
Could I give you this, this glimmer,
Of peace, of a better moment.

Today in the still quiet moments,
Shared in love, friends till the end,
You asked of me... I knew not if...
Could I give you this, this glimmer,
Of life, of an eternity.

Today in the still quiet moments,
Shared together the struggles,
You asked of me... I knew not if...
Could I give you this, this glimmer,
Of victories, success in you.

Today in the still quiet moments,
Shared for all whom you touched,
You asked of me... I knew not if...
Could I give you this, this glimmer,
A reflection, gracing this world.

Today in the still quiet moments,
Shared by all who felt your love,
You asked of me... I knew not if...
Could I give you this, this glimmer,
A legacy, your moment in time.

His Cassey

His were the hands which gently placed
photo prompt for Magpie 51
Each stone with care, precision, placed
There to guide, lend direction for each
Step, leading the pathways of my
Journey.  Each stone adding the
Strength needed to seek the
Meditations of my days ahead.
The prayers written in stone,
Weathered with time...
Offering wisdom, guidance,
Peace with each interlocking
Pattern.  To seek from him
All that was within me,
I only needed to follow
This path laid before me,
Protecting me from the
Dust of the earth, his
Mortar to endure the
Sands of time, all
Laid upon the
Foundation.
This was His
Cassay.
