prompt #44 for Magpie Tales |
Dreams of Snow Days
Slumber wakes dreams of sleigh bells ringing nigh,
Hills to climb, my turn is sure to be soon.
Up on the hill, getting ready so high,
Evening darkness lit by beams of moon.
Snowflakes glisten over the hills for me,
The blanket so white, not a step is there,
To my window I jump hoping there be,
For in my dreams, school is out, I don't care.
Today will be one of playing in snow,
Balls flying high across the streets at you,
Men created by you and me to show,
Snow days coming, oh so long overdue.
Pops, hurry up please, and pull down the sleigh,
Out in the wonderland for all today!

Hoping everyone is having a great week so far, with not too much of the white stuff to deal with on their busy mornings getting off to work. Enjoy!

love it,
exciting experiences to have!
fun piece to read!
Magical! Gliding down a snowy hill on a star filled night! Memories ...........
Playing in snow? Sheesh! Not for me thanks - I'll watch from the window! :)
So cute and playful. Really nice.
I remember the impatience of wanting to go out to play - and the misery of frozen toes and fingers coming back to life ;-)
"men created by you and me" is wonderful. This puts me in mind of my own little girl's experience of snow, and even, far back, of my own!
This brought back great memories. WOnderfully playful!
Yes. Brings back memories alright! Well done.
Super fun to read!
The best of memories.
I enjoyed reading this!
who hid that story for us to find
Fun memories!
This is definitely a child's winter! Terrific!
Great memories, love the sentence that ends "...I dont care"
Nice capture of the child's opportunistic and carefree ability to look at snow, winter and general discomfort as fun.
Magical memories!
Dear Reflections: "For in my dreams, school is out, I don't care."
Love how the good dreams keep replaying when we need the lift! Being a big kid is the best! It's time to play in "wonderland"! Fun times!
I loved snow days. No school just play. You captured the feeling well. Good magpie.
What fun this must have been ....as it never snows where I live it certainly does sound wonderful.
Beautifully written...brought back memories for me too...only mine went all the way back to ages 5 through 10!
Lovely snow days, reminds me when we got of school early because of snow...the following days were joyous to play in the newly fallen white...bkm
Petrina Ma'am,
Carefree days of childhood innocence, who can forget that! Great magpie!
i'm really enjoying everyone's memories with this prompt -- it's lovely to read and remember.
wonderfully written....*sigh*
Nice Magpie,
Any day off school was a good day!
I remember as a child, going to bed praying myself to sleep for snow. A snow day meant ice skating, sledding and hot chocolate. My kids have rituals .. pajamas on backwards and other funny things. As an adult though, I can't remember ever wishing for snow... Kind of sad...
oh what fun this was to read, it'd be even more fun to actually do, though
Your poem reflects perfectly the enthusiasm I feel for snow ... guess I'm still a child in heart ... very nice!
mmm, this is a delicious feeling! i'm looking forward to some of those days happening soon around here!
such joy!! great magpie
