I Held Your Strength...

With grace you tenderly caught my tears,
let them trickle across your palm.
With pride you held the strength
of the world in the other hand.

And with each moment, through the years,
we nurtured each other like psalm.
Held tight insuring we could go the length,
forever, to be one we stand.

Yet quietly, slipping silently through mirrors,
the days soothed like aching balm.
Slipping past, beyond, out of arm's length,
like a shell buried deep within the sand.

Til one day at last, had to face all fears,
letting my soul come to rest, be calm.
For lost from all my being it's strength,
when left to live my days upon this arid land.

Through grace I tenderly caught your tears,
let them trickle across my palm.
With pride I held your strength
for the world in my other hand.

It is that tender moment when we hold hands and confide our sorrows with each other. It is what comes after emotionally as one that just cannot be described. But you did it beautifully!

A poem about caring and pain. Sometimes it's all we can do and you do it tenderly here. Well done.

My first time visiting from dVerse Poets Pub.

This is tender & sad but perfect in every way. Love the imagery of completeness.

Very nicely expressed.

Thanks for sharing.

An incredibly touching, beautiful piece... A story of life long love.... sad too, though you didn't say that she was living her days alone... I inferred it..

This great loss shared is made even more poignant buy the fist and last stanzas being a repetition.
