Taste of this glass, flavoring years be twirled,
Thoughts dark night, unclear... living crumbled time,
Ancestral images will be unfurled,
Like acid-washed remnants of aged-long rhyme.
Sipping sensations, altered thoughts are whirled,
Life's lost hearts of family's broken climb,
Day's forgotten moments given to crime,
The mind's lost illness, less packaged and pearled.
Ancestral images transmute once swirled.

Like acid-washed remnants of aged-long rhyme,
Memories etched in some other lifetime,
Fragmented pieces, a different world.

A flood from the past, to tickle your tastebuds. I liked this.
Really like the first two verses-then it feels like you step back in the third- why? Keep swirling the glass, it will come clear!
a clever form that you handled with aplomb - well done
Nice work - your words really flow.
This flowed as beautifully as the wine.
I really love the repetition of that first line. Works really well :)
wine does seem like an ancient thing... i like the line "memories etched in some other lifetime."
Images of the gone by days!
I am amazed at how a wine glass is doing the rounds- Cheers!!
Hugs xx
What a strange and beautiful journey, searching for ancestors ... your Magpie is beautifully written.
Lovely rondel. I love this form. It sings.
Angels sing and devils wait. The history of wine.
Loved your take, Petrina.
It does seem that you step back through time in these verses! :-)
For me, this created a melancholy mood. The wine a catalyst for the flood of memories...mostly sad. Well crafted piece. Vb
very interesting...
Poignant, a new take on the photo, and beautifully versed.
I love the weaving in this piece. The lovely "Like acid-washed remnants of aged-long rhyme".
Deep thoughts indeed.
"Memories etched in some other lifetime"
wow! i LOVE this line! a beautiful rondel that really goes well with the photograph.
This is beautifully and skillfully composed, twirling artfully into diverse nooks and crannies to gather forgotten pieces into a sepia mosaic. It is instructive to read your meter and rhyme,
Thanks for visiting my place ---
Beautiful rondel. Love the acid-washed ancestral images. Dark and powerful, like the wine in the glass. Well done! Thank you for sharing.
Very deep. I especially got caught pondering the last two lines in the second stanza...
Ancestral images will be unfurled,

Good work! Thanks for stopping by. I enjoyed your comments!
Images certainly swirled through this wine glass...
simply wonderful!
A masterful poem!
Your becoming an expert at Rondels, eh? Nice use of words.
This is beautifully written Reflections! :-)
The repetition reminded me of swirling the glass around in contemplation..a melancholy certainly..it's probably my bad eyesight or old computer but it looked like candle flames in the wine..made it feel even more smokey..Jae
I thought I recognized the form :) It's a beautifully written Rondel! I enjoyed it.
