Ancestral Images

Mag 61

Ancestral images transmute once swirled,
Like acid-washed remnants of aged-long rhyme,
Memories etched in some other lifetime,
Fragmented pieces, a different world.

Taste of this glass, flavoring years be twirled,
Thoughts dark night, unclear... living crumbled time,
Ancestral images will be unfurled,
Like acid-washed remnants of aged-long rhyme.

Sipping sensations, altered thoughts are whirled,
Life's lost hearts of family's broken climb,
Day's forgotten moments given to crime,
The mind's lost illness, less packaged and pearled.
Ancestral images transmute once swirled.

Really like the first two verses-then it feels like you step back in the third- why? Keep swirling the glass, it will come clear!

This flowed as beautifully as the wine.

For me, this created a melancholy mood. The wine a catalyst for the flood of memories...mostly sad. Well crafted piece. Vb

This is beautifully and skillfully composed, twirling artfully into diverse nooks and crannies to gather forgotten pieces into a sepia mosaic. It is instructive to read your meter and rhyme,

Beautiful rondel. Love the acid-washed ancestral images. Dark and powerful, like the wine in the glass. Well done! Thank you for sharing.

Very deep. I especially got caught pondering the last two lines in the second stanza...

The repetition reminded me of swirling the glass around in contemplation..a melancholy certainly..it's probably my bad eyesight or old computer but it looked like candle flames in the wine..made it feel even more smokey..Jae
