We spent a relaxing day Sunday out at Solvang
(the little Denmark of the United States) taking in their
'Danish Days' and some of the culture, so to speak.
We enjoyed the food, the tales, chain saw carvings
and watching olden day dances, translated for the crowds.
Oh, and let me not forget the Viking Camp.
On the way home, we stopped by one of the local Vista Points
to catch some pictures of the 'wildlife' and beautiful coastal views.
Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Ooh, have Danish Day envy now, sounds like a good time was had by all. Lovely photo too.
The last time I went to Solvang I was 12 years old that was a million years ago. I remember it being very quaint. I love your coastal pics thanks for sharing.
Chris - yes it was a wonderful day. My grandmother was born in Copenhagen, but she had the point of view, that we are in America now, so we are American. Therefore, not much of the cultural heritage was passed down. I find that the older I get, the more I wish it had been a part of my upbringing.
Kristen - yes, it still is a quaint little town, but a little more "modern american" thrown in... and wine tasting from the local vineyards. But it still has enough of the Danish, even more during Danish Days, that I feel like I can soak up a little of my heritage that I missed out on.
Maybe someday I will be fortunate enough to make a trip to Copenhagen, where she was from, to get a closer look.
you had me at chain saw carving...smiles. sounds like a wonderful day...and beautiful pics...
Oh no. I came here for your magpie. Maybe I screwed up the URL. arghhh
Tell us about more about the day and the customs you witnessed. It must have been very interesting.
