Foretell - Writer's Island and Sunday Sketches

The following sketch is in progress, but I wanted to post it as a beginning sketch for Sunday Sketches hosted by Sophia over at Blue Chair Diary

in progress by Petrina Lesko 2011

Oh, but what stories this old bridge could foretell of the small town waiting beyond.  Another road not yet taken, but surely a decidedly exciting world awaits on  the other side.  Such character beheld within the walls of its structure, eluding to the characters of this old town beyond its wooden frame... welcoming anyone who wishes to pass this way.

And with these words, my post shall fit right in over at Writer's Island and this weeks Prompt #8 for 2011: Foretell.  Hope everyone enjoys my submission.

Ever Love Held

sketch by Petrina Lesko (Feb 2011)

None so sweet, none so tasty,
This the bestest. better kind,
First loves, a love so hasty,
Ever love held, the child's kind.

Dreams of cakes and candy too,
Huggable bears, hearts in mind,
Puppies day dream, I wuv you,
Ever love held, the child's kind.

Found over at Monday's Child

Birds sing of morning songs here,
Carry forth ribbons to wind,
Cute little bows, saying we're,
Ever love held, the child's kind.

This the bestest, better kind,
Ever love held, the child's kind.

Sunday Sketches - Hope

Hope by Petrina Lesko
Earlier this week I wrote a poem about lighthouses (you can read it by clicking here).  Since my thoughts continued in the same mode following my post of that poem, I thought I would try to sketch a scene held in my mind.  I still need to work on the perspective, I think the lighthouse needs to be taller, but I found myself not wanting to cut the top off at the edge of the page.  I am filled with 'hope' that everyone will have a wonderful week.

To view other great sketches, please check out 'Sunday Sketches' over at Blue Chair Diary which is hosted by Sophia.  Sophia offers a link to anyone wanting to share their sketch or artwork (you will discover a world of some very awesome artists there) or you can link up your own drawing, painting, etc.

And since I have obviously been inspired this week by lighthouses, I thought I would also link over at Inspiration Avenue as their topic this week was 'What inspires you?'  If you follow this link after Sunday afternoon, you will be able to see the work of many other really terrific artists, and what their response to this topic was.

Sunday Sketches - 1st attempt

I've dabbled with various forms of art in the past including soft pastels which I really enjoyed using.  I found some of the oil pastels at a very reasonable price, so thought I would give it a try.  However, scanning it in also caused it to fade a bit, but... here it is.

Thought I would share it with you all over at Sunday Sketches.  This would be my first attempt... but have been browsing over the last couple of weeks and have been totally fascinated with the idea of combining this with some of my poetry here on my blog.  Hope this sketch shows enough.
