The Single Red Brick

Over at Theme Thursday this week, they are offering up the following picture prompt...  to inspire writer's to keep the muse sparked, sharing in the joy of writing.

"Brick" as posted at Theme Thursday

A brick wall, signifying the end of the road... a dead end if you will.  But... really the options are endless.  A brief turn offered, another direction to travel, another wonderful opportunity.  Or maybe just a pass through, lending to the need to change even ones mode of travel... Driving to the end, hopping out of the car and then walking the rest of the pathway to where?

I'd like to think that just off to the right, a pass-thru, a dirt path leading through a small grove of trees.  Walk with me to explore this beauty, this road less travelled.  The air is thick with eucalyptus... the trees tower above, the ground covered with ivy below the grove.  A hint of sea salt, as a mist carries on the breeze.  As we reach the bright lit area beyond the darkness of the grove, the sound of sea gulls calling to one another.  The crash of the waves from below as the path gently turns along the cliffside edge a few feet beyond the trees.  There is a wooden rail running along, a beautiful butterfly of purple and brown rests gently on the wooden beam.  And beyond, out above the sea, an azure blue sky filled with billoughy white puffs of cotton candy floating above the white breaking waves....  As my eyes drop down to the crashing of the waves on the shore below, there at the base of the wooden post, sitting in the greying dirt, a single red brick.

This brick, did it really signify the end of something, or simply the beginning of a wonderful rest in the journey...  I smile and take in all the energies of this place, refueling my soul.

Twas just yesterday when I saw,
First nights of stars so bright, twinkling...
Sharing a love like wonders awe,
Drawing me forever brinking.

Always to be there at the edge,
New journeys found with you to hold,
To share in the beautious ledge,
A life brazen, a life be bold.

Forever together held love,
Our secret place, still the same now,
Hands held up high, flight of the dove,
Walking one journey, always how.

Burdens of joy, laughing through tears,
Together now... and through the years.

Blank White Echoes...

as shared at One Stop Poetry on their
Sunday photographer interview
I wheel forth in the depths of nothingness,
Down hallways of my mind, blank white echoes...
Yesterday's moments of sunshine glisten,
In damp misty moments of today's tears.

If I could rise, see the outer gardens,
Memories of jasmine filling my soul...
Glimmers of days gone by, tender touches,
Breezes of the heart held out beyond walls.

Instead, endless unmarked moments fill days,
Long corridors to nowhere mark my world...
Bleach stained floors leading to countless doorways,
Each one could be mine, yet none seem to be.

Lost lifetimes left unshared in loneliness,
Aging bitterness stinging the heartstrings...
Forgotten in a world tucked away now,
Dignities stolen in the darkness of time.

I wheel forth in the depths of nothingness,
Down hallways of my mind, blank white echoes...

Life Zested

photo prompt for Magpie 55

Systematic pots of the working man,
Owed lime built up from aging deposits,
Coffee clutch remnants of promises ran,
Words, scarred by tines of time, he exposits.

Hope sliced, placed to top off wounded accounts,
Holes bored into thin skins, doctored not cured,
Coverages bruised, marred numbers she counts,
Scattered pulp, brined medications insured.

Disabled hearts, hold benefits bled dry,
Squeezed tartly, fleshy insight composites,
Juiced, salted aides cubed and swirled, left to try,
Cleansing pots, legislative reposits.

Life zested, social insecurities,
Distraught wedge serves future obscurities.

Clarity

image by Mike Roemer as shared at One Shoot Sunday
Clarity

Circles form in the small cloud filled room,
Smokey images, time... moments left unsaid,
The juice, a vine forbidden wash upon gloom,
Cellars filled, brimming beneath the sun in red.

Moments encased, oak trimmed and entombed,
Luscious grapes, pressed, plunged, or was it tread?
The fluidity of smoke, then  to assume,
Glasses waved, tasted, for clarity of head.

Circles form in the small cloud filled room,
Cellars filled, brimming beneath the sun in red.
Moments encased, oak trimmed and entombed,
Glasses waved, tasted, for clarity of head.
